Wondering how to unlock more badass moves for Basim in Assassin’s Creed Mirage? The new Skill Points system is the answer to it, and this guide tells you how to get them. Skills Points are the key to unlock everything from advanced stealth tactics to flashy combat tricks and different skills to turn your Basim into a real warrior of Baghdad. Unlike earlier RPG-heavy AC games, Ubisoft has ditched the previous XP mechanic from Mirage and replaced it with a skills feature.
How to Get Skill Points in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
The main way you earn Skill Points is as you play the game’s core story missions. From the moment Basim turns from a pickpocketing street rat to a worthy guy for Hidden One during the Taking Flight mission, the skill system appears in the game. From there on out, every main quest you complete will bring one or more skill points into your inventory.
It doesn’t matter how stealthy or loud you are, the reward remains the same regardless of your playstyle. As the story missions ramp up in complexity and stakes, you’ll notice that the skill point rewards start to scale up, too. At the start, you will have a shortage of skill points, so you can go to the Investigation Board and pursue a few missions until enough points are unlocked.
If you are desperate to power-level your way through the skill trees, the fastest route is the main story. Although there are side activities that give out points here and there (we’ll get to those), the consistent way to farm points is to stick to the central plot. Every mission finish equals guaranteed skill points. But once you’ve cleared a fair chunk of the campaign, you’ll want to branch out into side content if you still lack points. That’s when the below given next methods come in.
Complete Contract Missions
Contracts are small side missions that Basim can pick up from the Contract Board in any Hidden Ones Bureau. They can range from simple thefts and assassinations to escorting NPCs or completing stealth objectives. But not every contract pays out in skill points.
Before you accept one, hover over the mission and read the reward section carefully. If it promises skill points, great. If not, leave it or complete it just for fun or money. If you don’t see any skill point rewarding contracts on the board, don’t panic. Completing available contracts or progressing through the main story will cause the board to refresh with new ones eventually.
Some known contracts that grant skill points include:
- The Bronze Mirror Heist
- The Kidnapped Scholar
- The Perfume Trader
- The Fake Message
- The Informant
Completing all available skill-point contracts can net you around 10 skill points, which can be a big deal when trying to unlock the higher-tier skills later in the game.
Collect Lost Books
Scattered across Baghdad and its outskirts are Lost Books—collectibles that double as skill point fountains. There are seven Lost Books in total, and each one you collect rewards you with one skill point. You’ll first get wind of them through an NPC named Al-Jahiz, whom you meet around the House of Wisdom in Abbasiyah. Talk to him to trigger the Lost Books side quest, and find all of them. The best part? These don’t require any combat or story progression. You could snag a few early on by discovering their locations. That makes Lost Books a great way to get a few early game skill points with relatively low risk.
Complete Tales of Baghdad Quests
The Tales of Baghdad side quests are a nice break from the main story. These mini-quests are available throughout each district and the surrounding wilderness. Each tale is a short story, 5-10 minutes long, that gives you a look into the lives of ordinary citizens and also nets you skill points.
Not every Tale offers a skill point, but many do with a few notable ones being:
- Leap of the Faithful
- Curse of the Si’la
- A Life’s Work
You’ll get about 3–5 skill points in total from completing all the relevant Tales, which might only be the difference between a good Basim build and a great one.
How to Use Skill Points in AC Mirage
Open the Skills Menu and take a look at your three different skill trees:
- Phantom – Focus on combat and mobility like faster kills, air assassinations, and better crowd control.
- Trickster – The tinkerer’s tree, where you can level up tools, expand gadget capacity, and improve pickpocketing ability.
- Predator – The stealth purist’s domain which improves eagle Enkidu, augments stealth tracking, and heightens enemy detection.
You’ll want to align your skill choices with your preferred playstyle. So think about it before you work your way through skill trees. Do you love to sneak from the shadows? You should go with Predator. Being a gadget fan, Trickster is the best choice, and if you think launching your Basim off rooftops and stabbing enemies mid-air is the right way to play AC Mirage, Phantom is the only choice. There’s no “right” way to build Basim, which is part of what makes the system so fun.
How to Refund Skill Points
If you made a choice you regret by choosing the wrong skill or if there is one with no use to you, Assassin’s Creed Mirage allows you to refund the skill points at no extra cost. Through the Skill menu, you can refund one skill for free or reset your entire build with a button press, which is at the bottom right of the skill tree screen. This refund feature lets you try out different builds or adjust for a specific boss or mission.
