If you’re on a quest to add Cave Jelly to your collection in Stardew Valley, I’ve got the guide on where to find and how to catch them. These rare creatures are indeed a challenge to catch, but with the right strategy, you can add them to your inventory.

Where to Find Cave Jelly in Stardew Valley

As you might guess from its name, Cave Jelly can indeed be found lurking in the mines. But not just any old spot in the mines will do. You’ll want to zero in on level 20, level 60, and level 100. At these levels, you’ll come across the underground water sources teeming with… mostly trash, but also the rare Cave Jelly.

Hence, the odds are not exactly in your favor. Cave Jelly has a measly 5% chance of appearing rather than a trash item when you’re fishing in these pools. If you have any experience playing Stardew Valley, you may know that trash itself is already a rare catch. So, it is quite a challenge to locate a Jelly. It seems like hard work, but the payoff is worth the effort. Not only is catching all three types of Jellies a quest in itself, but you’ll also need one of each to craft the ever-useful Fish Smoker. Moreover, consuming Cave Jelly boosts your luck (+1 Luck), not to mention it gives a nice boost to your energy and health.

Start with equipping the best fishing pole you have; this is non-negotiable. Next, stock up on deluxe bait and dressed spinners from Willy‘s shop. These items are essential to lure in the elusive Jellies. But there’s another secret ingredient to your success: luck. Yes, before heading down to these underground lakes, indulge in a Lucky Lunch or any other luck-boosting item that can level up your chances of a successful catch. If you’ve got a solid Luck Buff going, say +5, your odds of obtaining a Jelly at level 100 in the mines could jump up to 30%.

And, of course, use the mine elevator to swiftly get to your desired fishing spot. Even with your inventory perfectly prepped, patience is important. You might find yourself casting your line for quite a while before a Jelly decides to bite. Hence, packing some stamina-restoring snacks is a smart move. You’ll need all the energy you can get to keep casting that line.

Catching Cave Jelly is not for the faint of heart. It’s a true test of patience and preparation in Stardew Valley. Furthermore, there are other ways to get it. If you’ve got a Lava Eel Fish Pond with a population of at least 8, you could get a Jelly right from your farm. Or, if you’ve been chatting up the Bookseller and have the Jewels of the Sea to trade, that’s another way to go. Just make sure you’ve unlocked that option with the book power first.
