How to Do a Link Trade in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

- Open the main menu by pressing the X button.
- Select Poke Portal and then Link Trade.
- Choose Set Link Code and enter an eight-digit number. You can use any number you want, as long as your friend uses the same one.

- Select Poke Portal and then Surprise Trade.
- Choose the Pokemon you want to trade. You can trade any Pokemon you have, except for some special ones like your starter or legendary Pokemon.
- The search process will start for a trade partner and the trade will be done automatically.
- Wait for the trade to complete and see what Pokemon you have received.
Trading Pokemon can be a great way to complete your Pokedex, get exclusive Pokemon, or evolve Pokemon that only evolve by trading.
