Blizzard has Removed Another Overwatch 2 Hero Because of Bugs

The Overwatch 2 hero Mei has been taken from the game by Blizzard until the developers can fix a fault affecting her performance. With the release of the upcoming patch on November 15, the character can make their way back into the game.

Until Blizzard can fix a glitch in Mei’s Ice Wall ability that lets heroes teleport to the wrong places, the character will be temporarily disabled. The company tweeted, “We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch, which is set for November 15.”

Owing to the glitch, Mei could utilize her wall to access areas beyond the actual game terrain, allowing her to avoid detection from enemies easily and score quick kills and damage. This video of the vulnerability was uploaded on Reddit for all to see.

This decision follows the removal of the Bastion and Torbjörn characters from the game a few weeks ago due to problems that severely impacted gameplay. The withdrawal of these heroes was only one of the numerous problems that hampered the game’s shaky release, including long queues and constant DDoS attacks.

The Overwatch 2 developers are hard at work fixing the hero flaws, but they have no plans to rebalance the characters until at least the end of this month. Blizzard announced in a blog entry that a comprehensive rebalance like that won’t be considered until December.

Currently, Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. You can read our Overwatch 2 review to learn more about it.
