Weta Workshop, a New Zealand-based firm, seems set to provide enthusiasts of the Middle Earth story with a brand-new journey, making the Lord of the Rings titles among the best role-playing video games ever developed.

Lord of the Rings game centered on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth and developed by Weta Workshop has been reported for publication by Private Division. This studio is well known in the film industry for its visual effects and prosthetic work in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films.

With permission from Middle-earth Industries, the developer has access to the “literary works of the series” to use as inspiration for the planned video game. According to a statement released by Private Division, “The Lord of the Rings IP is home to so many remarkable stories, and no entity is better equipped than the team at Weta Workshop to create a distinctive, new Middle-earth gaming experience.”

Following the efforts of Private Division (the company responsible for such titles as Rollerdome) and the Academy Award and BAFTA-winning Weta Workshop, Middle-earth will soon be brought back yet again.

While Weta Workshop is well renowned for its cinematic work, the studio did establish a gaming subsidiary in 2014, which is currently developing this game. Although few details have been revealed, Private Division has stated that the game is still in its beginning stages of development. In other words, people may anticipate getting their hands on this game anytime between April 2023 and March 2024, given any unexpected setbacks.
