Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers two completely different arsenals built around two very different fighter protagonists. Yasuke commands the battlefield with raw power and heavy weaponry, while Naoe plays from the shadows with speed and precision. Both have their specific gear, and they fight in their own way to solve combat problems. With the Mastery system, every weapon upgrades as you unlock its abilities and improve its strength. Yasuke’s Weapons

Yasuke fights like a samurai should – head-on with powerful force. His weapon selection is for reach, impact, and the ability to shatter enemy defenses.

Long Katana

The extended blade gives Yasuke great range in duels. These weapons are fantastic to carve through armor and deal massive single-target damage.

• Claw of the Dragon delivers 35% extra damage against solo enemies, perfect for duels. You’ll need 450 Helix Credits from the store to get it.
• Crimson’s Edge turns bleeding into an execution tool – enemies with 2 or fewer health segments die instantly when the bleed procs. Defeat Sanada Masatoyo during the “Nobutsuna’s Students” quest to claim it.
• Loyal Traveler makes sheathed attacks postured and creates vulnerability. Find it west of Kamikura Shrine in Kumano Sanzan, Kii.
• Whisper of Muramasa applies vulnerability on riposte, and opens enemies for follow-up destruction. Complete the “Kurai Eikyou” quest line to receive this one.

Naginata

Polearms with sweeping reach to control groups. These attacks keep enemies at bay, while perks often trigger on blocks or first strikes. It is good to fight multiple enemies, hold chokepoints, and control battlefield space.

• Celestial Blade auto-parries regular attacks with block, giving you free counterattacks. Beat Yuki No Kata in “Nobutsuna’s Students” to unlock it.
• Sage’s Reach gives you 10% more damage for every block, so being defensive offers offensive power. Assassinate The Naginata during “Showdown in Sakamoto” to get this weapon.
• Vengeful Foe builds 35% more bleed on successful parries. Complete “The Tournament” side quest to obtain it.

Kanabo

War clubs are built for one purpose, which is to obliterate armor. Slow but unstoppable, these weapons stagger and crush anything in their way.

• Boulder Fall prevents attack interruption and lets you power through enemy strikes. To unlock it, assassinate the Katsuragi Agent in the “Kurai Eikyou” quest.
• Daybreak’s Fury spreads damaging shrapnel when breaking armor. Take down The Ox during “Broken Horn” to receive it.
• Phantom Fist charges posture attacks fast, which reduces the wind-up time. Defeat Hozoin In’ei in “Nobutsuna’s Students” for this gear piece.

Yumi Bow

The bow is a large longbow that Yasuke can use for long-range combat without the firearm noise. Bows provide stealth kills from distance and crowd control through knockdowns.

• Dragon’s Wrath charges arrows instantly, eliminating draw time. To get this bow, assassinate The Tsutsui Agent in “Kurai Eikyou.”
• Falcon’s Eye fires multiple arrows per shot. Complete “A Collection of Crests” by finding all 9 Kamon Crests.
• Last Breath makes special ammo trigger afflictions immediately on headshots. Finish “Requiem for Rokkaku” to unlock it.

Teppo

Firearms that punch through armor but reload slowly. Best used as finishing tools or opening strikes before Yasuke switches to melee encounter.

• Dark Burst shoots multiple bullets in one trigger pull. Defeat Asari Nobutane in “Nobutsuna’s Students” to grab this Teppo weapon.
• Dynasty Ender suppresses firing noise, which maintains your stealth. It can be collected in Genbao Fort, Wakasa.
• Patient Harbinger loads two bullets instead of one, doubling your shots before reload. Find it near Kamikoga’s Ippon Sugi shrine in Ado River Valley, Omi.

Naoe’s Weapons

Naoe has a completely different style to play and fight. Her weapons are built around assassination power, quick strikes, and letting her disappear before enemies react.

Katana

Naoe’s katana uses an inverted grip for defensive deflects and rapid combos. These blades focus on posture damage and execution setups.

• Dragon’s Edge creates area damage on dodge attacks. Assassinate the Two-Faced in “Topple the Traitor” to get this katana.
• Snakebite charges posture attacks instantly after the tool’s use. To obtain, take down The Fox during “The Performer.”
• Steel Blossom charges posture attacks after vaults, which enables aggressive vertical play. Assassinate The Fool in “Lost Honor” to pick it up from its drop items.
• Violet Night triggers poison on deflect, turning enemy aggression against them. Kill Yuki Onna in “The Yokai” quest to earn this as a reward.

Kusarigama

Chain weapons mix close slashes with extended reach, and the kusarigama controls space and punishes groups.

• Death Whisperer deals 200% damage on enemy collisions. Assassinate The Wounded in “Heads Will Roll” to unlock it.
• Bloodletter triggers bleed when entangling enemies. Found in Kashiwara Fort, Hijiyama, Iga.
• Featherstorm instantly charges posture attacks when hitting multiple targets. Located in Kashiwabara Fortress, Ibu Highlands, Omi.
• Winds of War breaks armor with posture attacks on dazed enemies. Assassinate The Wise during “Darkness Falls.”

Tanto

The tanto pairs with Naoe’s hidden blade to perform lightning chains and mid-combat assassinations. These daggers emphasize weak points and double kills.

• Shinobi’s Fury makes weak point attacks apply vulnerability twice. This weapon defines Naoe’s assassination playstyle. For it, kill The Golden Teppo in “Defensive Position.”
• Call of the Void delivers 30% extra damage to tagged enemies. Assassinate The Godai of Void in “The Godai Shinobi.”
• Masamune’s Thorn removes 2 health segments with double assassinate. Found in Nochiseyama Castle.
• Yukimitsu’s Revenge makes afflicted enemies vulnerable. Located in the Ancient Tomb of Nanjo, Eagle’s Nest, Yamashiro.

How to Obtain Weapons in AC Shadows

• Legendary Chests found in castles and hidden locations throughout the world guarantee fixed legendary weapons.
• Quest Rewards range from uncommon to legendary, depending on the mission. Check your objectives board to preview rewards before you trigger a quest.
• Gear Vendors found in major cities like Sakai sell basic versions of all weapon types. Their stock improves as you level up, and you’ll need enough Mon currency to purchase.
• Enemy Drops from elite fighters like Ronins and Guardians give random non-legendary weapons, especially in restricted zones.
• Animus Projects work like battle passes with exclusive legendary weapons. You can progress it by collecting Data Fragments from Anomaly quests.
• Store Bundles offer legendary weapons through Helix Credits microtransactions.

Normal chests provide random loot that respawns every season, but they aren’t reliable for specific weapons. Chest contents change between armor, trinkets, materials, and hideout decorations.

Weapons in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows scale with your character. Each weapon type has its Mastery tree. Investing points unlocks new abilities, like fast heavy attacks or critical damage gains. At your Hideout Forge, you can upgrade weapons to match the character’s current level.
